Adobe Indesign CS2 – #2 Glyph Scaling

Glyph scaling is the adjustment of the horizontal scale of your type, specifically for the purpose of achieving better justified type. Allowing the horizontal scale of your type to be anything but 100 percent may sound like a type purist’s nightmare, but applied judiciously—and working in conjunction with Word Spacing and Letter Spacing—Glyph Scaling can significantly improve your type color. When a modest amount of Glyph Scaling is applied, the type color is dramatically improved, and variance in the horizontal scale of the type is imperceptible.
